Would really like to see one – don’t know if they’re uncommon over the Southern Hemisphere? Or maybe I’m just visually-impaired….

You gotta get away from city lights. They seem to happen about… ... maybe once an hour? Of course, during meteor showers, they’re all over the place. It shouldn’t matter what hemisphere you are in—these things happen quite close to the earth.
