I did this two years ago. I was there for only two days. It was enough time to tour Manhatten. I would love to go again.

four day weekend
I have a five-day weekend coming up in November and I’ve never been to New York. Any suggestions?
New York
Sure! If you like music, try to go to Arlene’s Grocery, Bowery Ball Room, or CBGBs. A great bar is The Campbell Apartment in Grand Central Station. If you like books, visit the old Strands bookstore that has several levels of creaky wood floors and tons of books.
On my first day, I covered the lower half of Manhatten. I walked to Union Square, and then through Washington Square Park near NYU. I shopped at Scoop NYC (if you like to shop, it’s trendy). Continued through China Town where you can buy cheap souveniers, and winded my way around the Financial District where the buildings and architecture are beautiful. From there, I found my way to the Brooklyn Bridge and walked to the mid-point and back. Then, I visited Ground Zero. That night, I had a fantastic dinner in Little Italy and took a taxi to Grand Central Station. See the Chrysler building. Go to Times Square at night!
The Meat Packing District has good shopping.
The next day, I toured upper Manhatten. I walked though the Theater District (but didn’t see any Broadway shows) to Central Park. You can rent a bike and ride through the park. By the park, you can see Trump Tower and visit the Dakota apartment building where John Lennon and Yoko Ono lived. If you can, eat at Tavern on the Green inside the park. That’s it. And that’s only 2 day’s worth of stuff to do. Have a great time!
