read all of the books on the ALA's list of 100 most frequently challenged books of 1990-2000 (read all 5 entries…)

25. In the Night Kitchen by Maurice Sendak

I have now read this one. It is banned because there are several illustrations of the little boy’s penis. It looks like a finger sticking out between his legs, but it is there none-the-less.

On to more intriging books.

Trauma_Junkie has a cough and chest cold. ick.

I love this book

My parents, who cared less about penises, in books, got it for me as a child.

For more nudity in childrens books
there’s one I loved:

“Go Go Grabote”

It’s a bargain now at 3.50 on Amazon. It wasn’t the nudity that fascniated me but the story of Grabote.

Yagottabekiddin...

Banned by who? If you’re from the USA, then Puritanism isn’t dead there, yet. In case the thought Police haven’t noticed, many little boys have penises. Ain’t it funny how puritanism and pornography go hand-in-hand, in my country especially!

Yup...

I live in the good ole USA. The America Library Association has a list of the 100 most challenged or banned books from 1990 to 2000.
