and they played the new Kaiser Chiefs song, Never Miss a Beat. Great lyrics! “What do you want for tea? I want crisps.” Well, some of us can no doubt relate ;)

Ah, but what flavour?

Japan seems to have a choice of prawn (not prawn cocktail alas; they just taste mildly fishy), seaweed, pizza(?), or plain. Why is it only Brits who have fully embraced the true potential of the crisp? I remember living in France and all you could get was paprika, cheese or plain. Before that was Germany, where you couldn’t even find cheese flavour! Pathetic!

I often have the “what flavour crisps would you buy right now?” debate with K. He usually ends up going for cheese and onion. I hover between s&v, pickled onion, or worcester sauce, though I’m also quite partial to spring onion. God, I’m salivating at the very thought!
The other day we discussed “what would you have if you were at the chippy right now?”, and K said pizza!! That’s what a year in exile will do for you. Poor love…

good point!

I don’t think I reported on here that the morning I went to Oslo, I discovered prawn cocktail Pringles in one of the little touristy corner shops downstairs, so obviously I had to take some with me for the Gang. Let’s just say they got a mixed reaction i.e. everyone thought they were disgusting apart from me. Zanna manfully ate a few by pretending that they were Skips, but for Silvie, discretion was the better part of valour. Even Stine, a renowned Pringle addict, refused to touch them!

But back to normal crisps. Were you aware of this dreadful crisp deficiency when you moved to Japan? If so, I commend your bravery!

You’ve covered all the main options there. For me, it would have to be be pickled onion Monster Munch. Mmmmm! Being a dreadful yuppie now, I don’t eat them much any more but tend to go for weird overpriced things like roast parsnip and beetroot crisps from Planet Organic. just shoot me now ;)

Pizza from a chippy? That’s just all wrong! Surely the correct answer is pineapple fritters ;)

Silvie is thinking good thoughts for Sadie

Anyone remember the limited edition flavours

I think it was Walkers did them.

Branston Pickle was my favourite then…alas they never made it to ful production.
