Jannike is optimistic for 2012

write a book (read all 37 entries…)
I am waiting .....

My son has not yet finished reading my book. I am sure that he does not understand how important his feedback is to me. I don’t want to push him, this should be fun, not just another thing he has to do.
He has been in bed with something which resembles the flu for some days, so it is understandable that he has not had the energy to read.
I am also waiting very eagerly for response from my friend, the librarian, who promised to read and comment. She has also had some health problems recently.
I have to understand that may book may not be as important to other people as it is to me…
I feel that I really need some more feedback, it is difficult for me to understand how an unknown reader will take to my book, I am to much involved to be objective. Is it good or is it not? I am not sure.
Maybe I must set a date and say that when this date comes, I will begin the rewrite. I have another person who has offered to read and comment, I will give her a copy when I see her next week. She is a fast reader. I think by October 1.st I should be ready to go on with the second draft. I think that I may have to change the plot somewhat, to incorporate some new ideas, but I keep large parts of the main story and the characters.

Comments:

Similiar situation!

Hi Jannike, I am in a similiar situation. I finished a draft of my novel as a grad student, and have had a couple people read it but have not yet received some good constructive criticism.

What is your novel about?

I wish you the best with your novel and the second draft!

Jannike has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
