Learn yoga and meditation (read all 4 entries…)
* India *

I’d love to move to India for awhile: Find a place to live, work and study yoga & meditation and become a certified instructor and then come back to Canada afterwards.

Studying and working somewhere else then where I’ve always lived would be a great change of scenery. It would be awesome to meet new people, new cultures, and live differently than what I’m used to.

All I need to do is find a good place to learn yoga & meditation, find a place to live and a job close by so I’m able to walk to work and schcool. I’d also like to learn how to speak Indian or would I be ok with just speak English?. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. Thank you :D

Comments:

There is no such thing as speaking "Indian"

because dozens of different languages, with sub-regional dialects, are spoken there. It varies from state to state. For starters, Hindi, Gujerati, Malayalam, Tamil…

But English is a widely spoken second-language and you can certainky get around with that, many smiles, gestures, etc.

You can start doing yoga any time, though. If there is no good instructor living near you, there are always videos and VCR’s. I like Seane Corn’s quite a bit…

Thanks

Wow, I didn’t know there were so many languages. I’m not sure if I’ll actually be moving there though. It is a dream of mine but I’m engaged and long distant relationships don’t all last, so I’ll have to give it some thought. I’d love to start doing yoga here. I found this place not too far from home, but with my sewing classes I’m a little short on cash. Maybe next year. With vidoes/DVDs I never know if I’m doing it right and I’m not as motivated and always get disturbed, by other people (fiancée), phone, etc., and get bored easily. I actually took some yoga classes back when I was in college and loved being in a class with other people, I was motivated, it got me outside the house. I cannot wait to get a house and have a room just for yoga.

Yoga

I just started doing yoga with Basic Yoga Workout For Dummies. It’s a good start and not too hard. I really enjoyed it and I felt so relaxed and de-stressed afterwards, which is one on my biggest goals.

What type of yoga does Seane Corn teach? What do you like about her? My yoga teacher was teaching sivananda.
