In August of 2005, I packed my earthly belongings, two rabbits, one guinea pig, and one pet tarantula in the back of my Jeep and drove over 3,000 miles to live with my boyfriend in California after seven years in a long distance relationship. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. Living together has been everything I imagined it would be … and more. Nothing has made me feel happier or more secure in the world than knowing I can come home every night to the cozy haven we’ve created together.
