We looked at a house this week – the first one we’ve done more than just drive by to check out. We are meeting with a realtor today – we may make an offer on the house, but we are likely not going to get it because it is out of our budget. When you are talking thousands of dollars, a few thousand more or less doesn’t seem like that much, but my husband pointed out the difference between what we felt comfortable with based on our number crunching and what the owner’s bottom line needs to be is the cost of a new car. We are going to need a new car (or a second car) eventually. This puts that price difference into perspective. We still may figure out a way to stretch and make it happen, and just watch our budget a little more closely and live with boxes for furniture for a while… ha. I think it would be worth it for the right house.
