I want to stop doing these things!
They drive me up the wall.

Odds and evens

Almost everything I do with the left side of my body has to be an odd number of times, and almost everything I do with the right side of my body has to be an even number of times.

The biggest obstacles I face with this issue are chewing, brushing my teeth, and typing.

I’ve had this problem since I can remember and nobody gets it or thinks that it is real.


Utinsels

Unless I have personally used and washed the utinsel from start to finish, I always have to spit on it (fork, spoon, or knife) just a little bit and wipe it on my clothes.

It’s hard doing this when I’m over other people’s houses or at restaurants.
I don’t.

I automatically think that I’m eating thousands of germs and will probably get some kind of disease that a simple vaccine can’t cure.


Small, uneven holes

I have a great fear of small, uneven holes.

I have to look away and will sometimes run or walk away very quickly.
(much like this thing)

I think something will come out of them and harm me, sometimes kill me, depending on the size, look, color, or where the holes are.

The sight of the holes will bother me for a long time.


Pushing fingers

I have to keep pushing or pressing the tips of my fingers on a surface until it feels right.
Even if I have to do it a hundred times.


Touching food

When I have a plate of food, no matter what it is, the food must not, cannot touch.
If it does and I can see the residue of one food on the other, I will eat around the “contaminated” part.


Brown fries

I used to (not any more) have a fear of eating the brown part of french fries (the skin).


Twizzlers

Twizzlers are my favourite food.
I will probably die eating a Twizzler.

I can only eat Twizzlers in one way, each the same way.
First I eat the tip of one end, then the tip of the other.

After I eat the tip of the other, I have to suck until I can feel air, like a straw.
If no air comes out, I will keep biting in small fragments until I can suck air.

Then, I can consume the rest of the Twizzler normally.


Cursor

While watching a movie or clip online, the cursor h-a-s to be in the bottom right hand corner, and I have to not be able to see any part of the cursor.

One time my ex-roommate was showing me a clip on YouTube, and the cursor was sitting in the middle of the viewing screen.
It was a music video, and the entire time my eyes were fixated on that cursor.
My muscles tightened and I wanted to leave the room so fast.


I can not explain how happy I am to have found this website:
i am neurotic.

I want to figure out why we do these things and why we are looked at differently and feel like we can’t continue with our daily lives sometimes.

MANY people have OCD or OCD type symptoms. If it concerns you see a therapist. It depends on what type of theropy works best for you but I found that EFT really helped me with these symptoms.

It IS hard and you may never get over them but if they are a concern, check them out xoxox

Behavioral studies.

I’ve done a few behavioral studies here and there.
Those got me a lot more insight to certain things than the therapy did and I got to be in a room with people who had exact or similar issues that I have… which was really neat.

I know that most of it is passed down through generations of my family, though.

I just don’t want my future children to have any of this at all!

I am fully in the same boat as you there. I am working hard on therapy and personal development to overcome this illness of mine.

The difference between Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT) and regular therapy is that EFT rewires your brain so that you literally think differently. I haven’t looked too much into it online but apparently emofree.com is the site to look at.

EXACTLY like rewiring.

What happens is when we have a thought etc it travels down a neuro transmitter pathway in the brain. The more we think this, the stronger that the link becomes so the thought automatically will chose that pathway over any other.

With things like hypnosis, subliminal tracks and EFT it teaches your brain new pathways. The old ones start to wither until your thoughts automatically will pass down the ‘healthier’ pathways that are stronger.

Hmmm do you get that? I am sorry it is very late here and I am tired :)

It really, really is!

You go your whole life thinking that you’re the only person in the entire world with certain problems…

and then you find a website one day where people write certain things that make you think if you yourself had written the entries.

It’s one of those things where you know that there’s probably people out there like you… but you only hear talk, and never see for yourself.

Hi, I was reading this entry and I had to stop at the one about the uneven holes. I get fears and things like that too and sometimes I am susceptible to getting a fear just because someone mentions it to me. That’s why I had to stop reading your list! Have you ever tried the ‘tapping’ technique called EFT to help you get rid of some of these obstacles? It worked for me when I had some major and shifting fears last winter. You might also try to flower essence blend from FES called Fearless. I hope these tips are helpful!!! Best of luck. You are not alone:)

EFT

Funny you mention that.
A user on here had recommended that to me, said it worked wonders for her.
I’d never heard of it before she mentioned it.

That very night I looked up some classes/courses for EFT and it’s just… way too expensive.
The few that I found to be somewhat legit have two zeros in the pricing.
I can barely afford therapy just to talk about this stuff.

But believe me, EFT is definitely embedded permenantly in my mind.
I’m so glad that people like you and the other user are telling me of this.
I love new approaches to certain things besides the healing processes that are “norm”.

Now FES is something else I haven’t heard of.

Definitely going to check that out as well.

And you have no idea how happy I am right now that you experience the holes fear as well.
I mean, I’m not happy, because it’s really annoying and really, really frightening…
but I’m happy that you know exactly what I’m talking about.
