I got a cheap little field microscope on Amazon. The eyepiece is too small for pictures :( but it is so much fun to look through. However, I’d really like a slide microscope and the stuff to prep slides.

I think that a problem with teaching kids to use microscopes when we do is that they’re too young to be trusted with sharp knives. You lose the fun of realizing that you can take almost anything and make a slide out of it. I have been making makeshift slides of plants using the clear plastic from a CD cover, which works okay for low magnifications.

• Get some blank slides, slide covers and stains, and a slide microscope
• Get a microscope I can take pictures from, and post pictures
• Find some water organisms

I notice that people have completed this goal. How can one complete a goal like this? Most of my goals are like that, actually – they’re not things I want to have done, but things that I want to continually do.
