complete my social media profile(s)
Confessions of a joiner: 15 months ago

At last count, I had 33 profiles on 30 different social media related sites. Rest assured that I am not active on all of them. I haven’t the time. That may beg the question of why I have so many to begin with. There’s a long answer…with me there’s always a long answer…but in the interest of brevity, suffice to say I’m curious about social media, what various apps do and how people use them. And the best way to do this is to, well, use them.

For several months, I’ve thought how cool and smart it would be to put these profiles to work for me by folding them into a sort of virtual portfolio illustrating my knowledge base, skill set, and interests. I think it’s time to stop thinking and start doing

And because every good goal has constraints… I will update my profile on at least one social media application each week until I have completed all of them. This will take at least 33 weeks, but probably more as I’ve probably forgotten about a few accounts and I’m likely to sign up for a few more along the way. I will start with LinkedIn.

behind...

I posted this goal 6 weeks ago. The first week I updated LinkedIn, where I’m only one recommendation shy of having a profile that is 100% complete. I’ve also kept my LinkedIn current, even through events like Phoenix Startup Weekend where I helped found Reserve Chute. But I haven’t done anything since…

It’s high time I catch up!

Since I’m behind, if I want to be be on par with my goal of doing one a week, I need to be done with these 12 profiles by December 15, 2008.

still behind :(

As I’m so far behind, I’m tempted to restructure the timetable for completing this goal. There is another part of me that views that as a failure, and prefers to redouble my efforts in order to get back on the one per week track. But alas, as my effort has consistently been zero, two times zero still equals zero.

For now, I will see what I can complete before the end of the year, and will then re-evaluate my timetable.

MsHerr has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
