brighteyes82 "Yes the heart will always go one step too far"

read all murakami books (read all 3 entries…)
So far I've read: 14 months ago

A Wild Sheep Chase
The Elephant Vanishes
Kafka on the Shore
Sputnik Sweetheart
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
Dance Dance Dance
Blind Willow Sleeping Woman

I love his books so much!! I started in January, and I would have read much more by now but it’s hard to find English books where I am. I already read everything in the English Library in town so now I’m working the internet. I just received Norwegian Wood through Bookmooch.com!

Strangely enough, it’s hard to find people IN Japan who’ve read his books. He seems to be more popular overseas. But yesterday I found out a coworker used to be just obsessive as I am now! She even said that when she was younger, she quit a job, and when the manager asked her ‘why?’ she responded that she loved Haruki Murakami books, and she needed more time to read them. It sounds absolutely ridiculous but I completely understand! We had a good laugh over that :) I’m really looking forward to being able to share my obsession.

Comments:

I love Murakami, too!

I was so happy to see this as a goal – schoolwork has diverted so much of my energy from reading fiction, that I was beginning to forget how much fun it can be to immerse oneself in a clever bit of prose. I’ve had five of his books on my shelf for years…

Wild Sheep Chase
Sputnik Sweetheart
Hard-boiled Wonderland at the End of the World
Dance Dance Dance
Underground

It was Wild Sheep Chase that drew me in initially. : )

Well

I’m not NOT a fan. But to be honest I don’t know a lot about Russian culture.
In the book the writer talks about satellites orbiting, passing by each other and not always able to connect. (I think, it’s been awhile since I read that one.)
And the t.A.T.u. picture was when I was feeling especially gay, lol. I didn’t even know it was t.A.T.u. to be honest…
