I’ve lived in other places and moving to LV was the one move that I’ve had the most mixed feelings about. If you’re single and fairly young, I suppose it’s fun. But if you’re not then there are a lot of things against moving to LV. The schools are miserable. Only 1 nationally ranked high school in the area. Reno, a much smaller city, has many more. By the school district’s own data, only about 60% of students graduate from high school. Most of the jobs are in the service (ie. casino) sector. There are no large high tech firms headquartered here. The casinos really warp the economy. Yes they provide a large tax base, but they do not attract innovation. If you really want culture, you need to go to Los Angeles for museums and things like opera, or a symphony.
