learn to quilt (read all 3 entries…)
WHOOOOT! **punching fist into the air in triumph** 4 years ago

I’m going to be starting this really soon. I’ve bought my fabrics and will be working on getting templates made and startting to cut things out as soon as I get all my fabrics washed and ironed. I’m so excited. I’m making a sampler quilt with lovely blocks. Each little block is a lesson in things you need to learn to quilt. I also bought a little quilted pot holder book so that I can practice small quilting pieces when I start to get discouraged about the full size quilt taking me so long. YAY! I’m excited to get started!

Great plan!

I’m also working on my first quilting sampler. I bought extra fabric to practice my cutting. I found out that no matter how well I measured, the final cut piece was smaller than was required. I have to take it slow and hold on very firmly to my ruler.

Good Luck in accomplishing this goal. Keep posting your results. You have a lot of quilters to support you here!

Thanks so much! Good luck with yours as well. I hope you’ll post pictures when you finally start pieceing. I’m hoping to get my backpanel done tonight and perhaps start cutting sashing and pieces for my first block. That’s the goal at least. We’ll see how well it goes once I get everything ironed up.
