attend more concerts (read all 6 entries…)

The Woodsongs was interesting. I knew that it was a big deal, but I certainly was not prepared for what I was in for. Have you ever been to a live broadcast of something before? If you haven’t, let me tell you some things about them. First off, keep in mind that this was a concert. Sure, it wasn’t a real upbeat, get into it (although the old folk who attended were hootin’ and hollerin’ through the whole show), dance with the person next to you type of concert, but nonetheless, it was a show. So we get into the theater (which is the historic theater in downtown Lexington. It’s the kind of building that gives you the chills when you walk in and take a look around), get our tickets, seats, etc. Right before the show starts, the “host” comes on stage and starts giving up instructions. Really? Instructions? Things such as, “You cannot get up during this time, you have to be SILENT when we are taping this part, watch for my cue to applaud, say this line with me at this section of the show, don’t sing along…” How stiff right? Never the less, the show is up online at Woodsongs Archives (It’s the Edgar Meyer / Chris Thile)
