On the bus! 14 months ago

I first heard about the London atheist bus ad campaign from dearest snowleopard, who posted a link to this article.

Two days later, it looks like the campaign has smashed all expectations, raising over 80 000 pounds (about 129 750 US dollars) of donations in only two days!! I had to read the article three times to check I hadn’t misread the figure!

I wonder if there is any American atheist/ humanist association that would be willing to launch a siilar campaign in US cities. I bet there are loads of hidden atheists who would love to donate to such a thing!

I love it!

just reading that sign made me feel better!

snowleopard is wishing everyone a very happy Christmas!

yes, me too!

although to be honest, the god bit isn’t the bit that actually made me feel better. Adverts that just said “Now stop worrying and enjoy your life” would be fine by me. In fact I think the government should put them up all over the place, you never know it might work!

and variations e.g. “Stop stabbing each other and have a breakfast martini” ;)

Moose Moosie in the sky with diamonds

Definitely

I would almost like it better if it was just the latter, but I guess that would destroy the point lol!

All sorts of combinations spring to mind… ;)

Exactly!

I know the media feels it’s a social duty to devote itself entirely in the pursuit of doom and gloom, but slogans such as
“It probably isn’t as bad as you think”,
“Cheer up! we’ve got a free health service!”, and “Go on, have a biscuit! Abstinence won’t make you immortal, you know!” would make excellent headlines.

Maybe we could campaign for happy headlines a minimum of once a month.

Dang it, what happened to the cheer goblin today

Cheer cheer cheer.

These woulld make much more excellent slogans to go on my desk calendar than the weird stuff it trots out…
