House Plants
How many do you have?
about 60
What kind?
all different kinds, tropical to cacti
Do you name them?
no, but I do refer to them as boy or girl
Do you make any lighting accommodations for them?
No they stay outside for all but a few days of the year
Which one is your favorite?
all the babies are my favorites and then I plant more babies and they become my favorites
Any good acquisition stories?
*Other than getting starts from friends and creating my own lush garden my favorite story is when Heavee sent me two cacti/succulents for my birthday. My 43rd birthday, that made my whole year.
Pictures?
tangerine_now the new year only gets better I swear
Jungle: plants
How many do you have? 7 plus 6 mini cacti
What kind? easy to keep ones, including the cacti
Do you name them? no, that’s silly: they’re plants, not pets. it’s not like they answer to their names, or even hear you call them :)
Do you make any lighting accomodations for them? just the placing near or far from the window. one doesn’t like light much, it’s in the bathroom
Which one is your favorite? my sprietenplant that I got when we moved to another house when I was 11 or 12. It was a tiny bulb with little antenna, now it is huge and still growing. instead of a bulb it has begun to turn into a little tree now for the past few years. interesting.

How many do you have?
3, unless you count my pot of 5 cacti individually. Then, 7.
What kind?
An olive “bonsai”, some succulants and cactuses that sit together, and some moss roses which should be planted outside, but I don’t garden.
Do you name them?
They are all secretly named George, except for the girls. The girls are named Maryanne.
Do you make any lighting accomodations for them?
I put them by the kitchen window where there is a nice bright spot. My moss roses are usually outside, but they were going to die in the cold, so they are in the dining room now.
Which one is your favorite?
George. :P It is mean to choose favorites, but then I must admit I have a special place in my heart for my olive tree. I have had him for nearly six years now.
Any good acquisition stories?
Not really, but… I got my bonsai at the grocery store where I used to work, and I guess technically it is probably not really a bonsai, although the tag said it was… so I don’t know. On of my goals is to get a real bonsai that I know is a real bonsai, but I wouldn’t want George to feel over-shadowed…
And my moss roses, they were my mom’s. I’m sure she thought nothing of them, but after her funeral, last may, my sisters and I split them up and took some home. So, I guess I am trying to make them last as long as possible. I’ll be sad when they die.
not many : (
Just an orchid and some chilli peppers. They don’t have names and i don’t talk to them either! No lighting, just by the window!
My fave is probably the orchid, althou its looking a bit worse for wear – don’t think she’s liking the cold weather!
The picture was taken over the summer when it was in its second bloom cycle. It will be one year old this december!
Houseplants.
I have one marble queen that hangs in the house, five succulents in pots on the porch, four spider plants and one fern hanging outside from the rafters, and 14 various flowering plants in a flowerbed (although I consider “the lillies” as one plant, when actually there are about 30 bulbs.)
Naming? What an excellent idea! Hmm…
No lighting, just whatever sunlight they get that day. The marble queen is in a pretty low-light spot.
My favorite would probably be the shrimp plant, because I’ve known it since I was, like, four. But, it gets just as neglected as all the others. LOL They all look sad right now.
Most of the plants I now have I inherited from my grandparents, when Grampa died three years ago. I do have a few plants that I bought for an aviary that I don’t own anymore, the marble queen used to be the foliage in a beta bowl, and one of my roses was a housewarming gift from a neighbor.
I have pictures on my myspace, in the My Garden album.
lulubell got married :)
How many do you have? 1*
What kind? *Avocado
Do you name them? The tree of hatred
Do you make any lighting accomodations for them? Nope it’s by the window
Which one is your favorite? My tree of hatred, it’s the only one
Any good acquisition stories? Well I grew it from a pit of an avocado that I ate for this goal
