I am very lucky to have caught the attention of two very influential professors at my college. I stood out because I was honest with both of them about myself, my faults, my road blocks, my strengths and what I want to do with my life. People in authority really respect those who are in charge of themselves, have clear attainable goals and seek to fix known problems. I too am at an impasse. These two have offered their advice with gentle care and all because I shared apart of myself with them. It’s really that simple in theory, but amazingly difficult to do. Hope that helps.
