All Souls Day 13 months ago

I almost forgot that today is All Souls Day. I used to be such a good Catholic. It seemed to matter more a long time ago. Now the church has changed so much. I hate the mass not being in Latin, and the part where they have you turn and greet the person next to you is so hokie. The church needs to go back to the old ways. Okay, maybe not all the way back to the Spanish Inquisition (LOL). Just put the mass back in Latin and get rid of the hokie greeting the person next to you. Maybe I’ll try and go to Mass tomorrow. The first time in 15 years—maybe longer, and I’ll think this is pointless, why even bother. The traditions are lovely, but…

In Western Christianity, All Souls’ Day commemorates the faithful departed. This day is observed in the Roman Catholic Church, churches of the Anglican Communion, Old Catholic Churches, and to some extent among Protestants. The Eastern Orthodox Church observes several All Souls’ Days during the year. The Roman Catholic celebration is based on the doctrine that the souls of the faithful which at death have not been cleansed from venial sins, or have not fully atoned for mortal sins, cannot attain the beatific vision in heaven yet, and that they may be helped to do so by prayer and by the sacrifice of the Mass.
