Workout 120 Days Straight: Day 114

My injury is sticking around like an unwanted guest and I’m devastated!

In desperation to keep active, in place of my running days, I’ve been pedaling like a madwoman on an exercise bike to morning trashy tv. It’s my least favorite activity in the world (I do it with the grumpiest look on my face), but if I don’t, then the loose skin that gathers in some areas of my body will fill in, I’m sure.

Sigh.

I miss running!!!

Good you are still working out

I know what you mean about your excercise bike. They are very boring. There is not much inside that can cure that bordom.

Can you bike out doors? It is one million per cent better. There is so much more to see, hear, smell; everything is better outside. And you can pedal longer, much longer.

Good luck. I know you will reach 120 days.

Thank you :)

Last year, DH bought me a very pretty bike with many pretty pennies; unfortunately I decided to go on a very hilly 15 mile bike with a group and ended up passing out half way! I’ve been traumatized ever since. I realize however, that at the time 1) I was pretty unfit and 2) I wasn’t eating right, and since today is far different than then, I should just get on that bike and try it again! (Like maybe this weekend :) )

Thanks for your encouragement, it means a lot coming from you!

Just take it easy

If you are coming off an injury, take it a bit easy. Biking puts less strain on the body, but you can still get hurt.

You are definitly in better shape now with a good diet and exercise, but hill work still demands training. I did a lot of hill training this season, more than ever before and it paid off in some of the rides i did.

Sounds like you have a decent bike, so take it on a nice easy ride to start. Enjoy it. Biking is meant to be more social. It makes it much more enjoyable.

Maybe you will find as I did; biking helps the running. It makes you stronger.

Call me Grasshopper

“Biking is meant to be more social. It makes it much more enjoyable.” This whole weight-loss-getting-fit-etc thing brought out a weird competitive streak/must outdo myself streak I never knew I had. You are absolutely right!!! I need to remember this. A bike ride is a perfect opportunity to cherish company and sights.

“Maybe you will find as I did; biking helps the running. It makes you stronger.” I actually read your comment last night and took the time to digest it, especially during my bike session this morning. It actually made me push harder in the bike’s sport program and I feel less devastated by missing an entire week of running. Thank you for this.

OK Grasshopper

Remember on your ride not to make it a race and try to leave everyone in your dust. Be nice and be careful.

Have fun and Good Luck.
