travel more and more (read all 3 entries…)

So my great trip to the US was wonderful!! I went to Miami, Florida; to NY and to LA, California.

I had never been to US before, so it was great experience for me. People are nice, cars are American :P and shopping is cheap. I saw all the must-see-places, ate local food and walked around a lot. I liked the wild nature as well – the Everglades with the alligators (fortunately didn’t meet any of them personally, neither any of the snakes, spiders nor mountain lions); the Californian canyons, the two oceans that are so different from each other. I saw the iguanas in Miami running wild, the squirrels and raquuns in NY Central park and the pelicans and sea lions in California. Awesome!

These three cities are so big and so different from each other. Loved the Halloween decorations everywhere, but isn’t it too early for the Christmas decorations? They were everywhere as well…

I had flight changes in Berlin and in London, so lots of free time in these cities too.

Overall, best trip ever!

Next trip – Stockholm in Sweden at the end of November :) That’ll be the last one this year (probably, but you’ll never know), alltogether, I’ve had 13 bigger and smaller trips this year outside my own country.

Too Soon

I agree with you that it is too early for Christmas decorations. Unfortunately stores keep moving that holiday earlier and earlier each year as they try to get us to spend our money. Stores do their best business leading into that holiday, so they think that if they market it for two months that we’ll spend more money during those two months.

I’m glad you enjoyed your first visit to the United States, and that you got to see such a variety of things.

Visits

I’m glad you had a great time! You picked three wonderful places to visit. Isn’t it crazy how many different types of environments there are in the US?

United States

knottylady, You are absolutely right! U.S is so crazy/beautiful! Although I travelled from one coast to another, didn’t see as much there is actually to see! I defenetly gonna come back to U.S some day :)

And Todd, thanks ;)

I like the remote outdoor wild places

but if you like the cities, I recommend Washington, Chicago and Seattle for your next visit. You will find three more cities that are each different from each other and also all different from the three you have just visited.

Hei, thanks for your tips ;)

I like both – the cities as well the nature.

Three Places for Nature

could be:
  1. Olympic Peninsula, which is one of the quietest places in the 48 contiguous states
  2. Yosemite, which really is as incredibly beautiful as the pictures
  3. West Texas, which most Americans do not appreciate, but I like the vast emptiness

Awesome!

So glad you had a great time here! I never get the Christmas Decorations coming out so early either! NYC is my favorite city in the world… it’s like home to me…. I’m so glad you liked it. I need to come visit Estonia…. and Lithuania… and Latvia…. It’s part of my heritage!!

Curious...

...on how tourists can appreciate a country, its beauty and the people it serves, yet the very citizens scoff their own homeland and have not seen anything outside of their neighborhood.

I’m glad you enjoyed our country. Next time you head to NYC, I’ll give you a few little known points of interest.

I always love and appriciate pointers from locals. I’ll let you know next time I’m heading to NYC ;)

yay!

glad you enjoyed our country :-)

i would love to come to yours some day, but so far i haven’t made it further east that greece.

Thanks, I really did enjoy my trip and your country!

I’m planning to visit Greece next summer. My country (Estonia) is 3-4 hours up north from there :)

:-)

yes.

i hope someday to see all three of the baltic republics.

i hear they are spectacular.

the baltic countries

The Baltic countries are really beautiful, especially in the summertime – beautiful country-side, beautiful beaches, little lakes everywhere, wet-lands that are unique in the world. In Estonia there are lot of small beautiful islands, that cannot be missed ;)

that's what i hear

they are definitely on the list.

i also hear from my czech friends that the british “weekend tourists” have now started appearing there.

i will definitely try to come during the week then ;-)

I was able to visit

Lithuania to see a friend a few years ago. I went in late March/early April, and stayed with her in Vilnius. It was really beautiful, even during that time of year. I will second your suggestion that people should visit the Baltics if they get a chance. I hope to visit Finland someday (a long way in the future, unfortunately!), and it would be very cool to jump across to Estonia.

:))

Come any time, James ;)

Baltic countries were popular amongst british bachelor-party tourists, but at least in Estonia it seems that they are backin’ off.

Btw, Estonian girls are beautiful to look at ;)

james - the FOUR times marathoner wondering why this can't be linked to twitter

of that...

...i have very little doubt.

the best way, by the way, to get the british bachelor party tourists away is to strengthen your currency.

worked for the czechs!

scooterbird it's a jungle out there, kiddies...have a very fruitful day

Great trip!

I’d love to visit Estonia sometime, and I’m glad you had a fun time here in the States. If you should ever visit Baltimore or Washington, DC, please let me know! I’ll show you around!

great!

Oh that’s great! And when you are making your way to Estonia, I’ll show you around ;)

Glad you enjoyed your trip

to the States. I visited San Francisco, LA and Las Vegas last year. It was my first trip to America, and I really enjoyed it.
Stockholm sounds like a wonderful place to visit too! I hope you have an excellent time :)

I hear that San Francisco is magical, unfortunately didn’t make it there this time.

Some day I wish I have the opportunity to travel to Australia :) All the best to you ;)

How fun to get a cheer

from someone from Talinn. Several years ago we went to Talinn, Estonia as part of our Baltic cruise. We weren’t there long, but I do remember going to an amphitheatre and watching some folk dancers. I’ll have to look at my trip notes on Talinn.
