become an engineer (read all 24 entries…)
Midterms almost over 13 months ago

Alright, so I’ve completed 4 out of 5 midterms, gotten 3 of them back.
Two of them I was above average
One I was not.. physics..

I really am starting to spite my physics teacher in highschool, see in highschool, they teach physics and calculus separate – like in phys, v-d/t… where as in calculus, v=ds/dt

I know that’s not a huge difference, but for a while there you really do miss the connection, between physics and calculus and how one is built on the other.. why they teach them separately, I have NO idea, but it’s really silly.

Physics is driving me bonkers.. it’s such a ridiculous out there class, like the ideas are just wow.. like what am i doing.
Dynamics is kicking my butt
Circuits got impossibly hard.. they were like “Oh.. DC circuits, we’ll lead you to believe the class is easy..” and then BAM AC CIRCUITS MOFO!!!!! EAT IT!!!! haha yeah.

I still adore calculus though, I don’t know solving the problems is so satisfying :)

I have another 3 hour lab tomorrow.. f me.

Comments:

I know exactly how you feel. Applied Mechanics uses calculus while Physics uses the simple things like speed = distance/time. Rather annoying, but tell ya what: I sat down on the weekend and grabbed all those old physics formulae like some of the really mental ones and by using calculus to derive them they become incredibly simplistic and easy to understand.

Exams are all done now woot! A 3 month [working] holiday.

(also if you have facebook I recommend you joing the ‘You Know You’re An Engineer When’ group. The quote list is quite hilarious but painfully true).

Hmm don’t worry, I already joined the “Engineering makes me feel stupid” group.. that pretty much sums up my life haha
cheers!
