LazyKat25 needs a vacation

go ice fishing
Brrr 13 months ago

I love fishing in the summer. Sometimes alone with the wind and the smell of the ocean. Sometimes with friends with a lantern, lots of beer, and even more laughs. Ice fishing appeals to me because I’d have to travel to do it (thus going to a new state, see “Visit all 50 states”) and the comradery of sitting in a small cabin over a tiny whole with a few friends, some spiked cocoa, a funny wool hat, and wondering “who the hell thought of this,” the thought makes me giddy. I never said it made any sense.

how?

i have so many questions but i really want to do this. where would you go? how could you be sure that the ice was solid? how do you cut through the ice?

i am borrowing your spiked cocoa and wool hat images… they make me happy, too.

Who knows!

I’m thinking I’d have to go somewhere in the mid-west, like Wisconcin, or go up to Alaska. I think there are some companies that will take you out for the day and provide all the equipment and get the licences and all that. I live in the northeast and while it’s definitely cold here, it’s not ice fishing cold, so I don’t think it would be something I could do regularly, but I haven’t really looked into it yet. Till then, I’ll watch “Grumpy Old Men” a few times to get in the mood.
