I saw a sign today.

It was in a neighborhood I was driving through.

A prominent, yellow sign.

One of several of its ilk in the same block.

It brings the story to home.

This was once a proud house, in a proud neighborhood.

It was built in 1915 and had seen many ups and downs through its life.

Until now it sits.

Unloved.

Cold.

Abandoned.

Only the wind whistling through its broken windows giving gaunt song to the once proud frame of what was once someone’s home.

A recession is when someone you know loses their job. A depression is when you lose yours.

The fallout is signs like these.
