Things I struggle with... 13 months ago

When looking at the qualities of the candidates for the Support Nurse position I consider within myself confidence, arrogance, boldness, desire, consistency, focus on mission, energy, preparedness, polish, positivity, creativity, service, broad experience, resumes, range of experience, boundaries, what do you know (management)vs. what you can learn (nursing), flexibility, what distracts you…How does this shape my own self image? How does this shape the image I project? I want to push for self change. I want do be a positive part of whatever system I am in. I do so want to be creative, and I don’t feel like I am right now.

Speaking of "On the Road" (which MamaKitty was)

are we going to get together for Christmas on the Plaza?

Co-ordinating Schedules

Good Morning! I can try to pick Darling 2 up for winter break at a time when it would be convenient for you to go to KC. Is there a particular day of the week that is good for you? Darling 2 is taking the train home tomorrow, so we can co-ordinate over the weekend : )

Looking forward

to coordinating our schedules! :-D

Watch for a private message from me.

Having read this entry...

...and its comments and some of your other recent entries, I became curious about what our friend Henri Nouwen had to say about creativity. I found a tiny piece on henrinouwen.org, (where the image also came from), about an on-line discussion that they had about the book The Inner Voice of Love: A Journey Through Anguish to Freedom, inviting participants “to be a part of this community as we explore the spiritual imperatives Henri wrote that led him gradually ‘to a new inner freedom, a new hope, and a new creativity.’”

I also found this comment, which is about ministry specifically, but which I think would be applicable to many professions:

“There are many people who, through long training, have reached a high level of competence in terms of the understanding of human behavior, but few who are willing to lay down their own lives for others and make their weakness a source of creativity. For many individuals professional training means power. But the minister, who takes off his clothes to wash the feet of his friends, is powerless, and his training and formation are meant to enable him to face his own weakness without fear and make it available to others. It is exactly this creative weakness that gives the ministry its momentum.”

It is a struggle…easier said than done. But it’s a creative struggle. :)

Thanks New Isabella!

What wonderful, hope filled reference. It gives me much to contemplate. I am copying it for my journal. The Van Gough is perfect.

You're welcome, MamaKitty!

I needed to read it, too. (As well as enjoy the sunny image.) My Inner Critic thinks that creativity comes out of perfection, but certainly not weakness. :)

MamaKitty has gotten 4 cheers on this entry.
