In the 1950’s, my late father was stationed in Greenland, specifically Qaanaaq, at Thule Air Force Base (or Tooley, as Dad pronounced it), and for some reason, I’ve always wanted to visit. I don’t know why I want to go; I wasn’t even close to being conceived when he was there. But he spent two years of his life there, and for some reason, I feel drawn to it.
