lose 100 pounds (read all 7 entries…)
an interesting thing 11 months ago

so I’ve learned –
that you can starve yourself on your diet, and be hungry and miserable all day (and technically – really have lost a few calories toward your weight loss goal)... and then in five minutes and one “meal” – all that hunger you put yourself through is for nothing, because you just ate twice as many calories as you need to maintain your weight.
All of those lost calories were found (plus some) – and all that hunger was for nothing.

Starving yourself is a bad way to go. I’ve found that making sure I’m eating really often helps. Now, I’m not eating crap like I used to, I’m just making sure I always have little prepackaged munchies. A handful of almonds, carrot sticks (they taste better when you cut them yourself instead of buying baby carrots) or a handful of cheerios. I can munch an entire day away and still get the right amount of calories.

Also, as a mom, it’s helped a lot because then if my daughter’s hungry I already have snacks ready.

It takes awhile to find what makes you feel ok, as far as food goes, when you’re so used to eating whatever you feel like for whatever reasons. Try some new recipes, add something missing to your diet to help you feel fuller (in my case, I was skipping out on protein. Once I started adding eggs I felt better). Good luck, and try to stay happy!
