My 2008 goal was to read 25 books, and I made it to 22 books. The Brothers Karamazov was a great book, but it was long and intense and took the wind from my sails. I set a goal of 50 in 2007, 25 in 2008, and now I’m going for 20 in 2009.
Comments:
I had a reading goal last year, too, and wanted to do it again. I decided, though, that I really need to read for “quality” and not “quantity” and finally narrowed it down to a book a month. The problem is, I’m very picky, and really want to read for enrichment. What were some of the best books you’ve read? It’s hard to find good stuff out there! Cheers to you!
I became a new mom and a manager this year, so right there I have limited time and a full list of reading options ;) Generally I’m pretty open in what I will read; I aspire to read classic novels and practical how-to, business authors, and self-help books, and some contemporary fiction occasionally as well.
Have you seen the site http://www.listsofbests.com/? They list the best of books, movies, places, people, etc, including lists of award winning novels, NYT best reads, pulitzer prize winning novels, etc. The site is by the makers of 43things, and is also tied into http://www.allconsuming.net so you can track your ‘consumption’.
Happy reading!
