...a gentleman on the sidewalk nearby was playing the clarinet. I normally hate that instrument, but this fellow was quite good. He played a rather austere version of O Holy Night, and it made me smile.

Hmm

I suppose I could make a few exceptions, especially on yours and Benny’s behalf. :-)

So maybe the problem is one of poor casting. The clarinet music I dislike tends to sound like a duck in death throes. Better parts would probably remedy that.
