SpookyDuke is reconfiguring
Made some minor improvements to my boxing sparring. I think really, it’s about conditioning. Earlier in the rounds, I’m much more aggressive, but as my body tires out, my brain stops working too. Day by day I’m getting better at conditioning, so I’m sure that this will even itself out.
I finished some minor fitness goals on my list; 250 consecutive turns on a jump rope, 50 consecutive pushups. So there’s some small victories amongst all this pain.
Yesterday was conditioning day extravaganza. 4 rounds of jump rope followed by 16 rounds of boxing followed by an hour of Krav Maga’s bag class. My left anterior deltoid is screaming and writhing like that octopus chick from little mermaid when she got stabbed by that boat. I’m doing horrible on anything that gets me up from the ground; wheelbarrows, krav getups, inchworms, etc. I think when I’m closer to 210, I’ll have an easier time.
Tonight is Hard BJJ sparring with the guys at Elite and then 20 rounds of hopefully technical boxing with the guys at the local boxing club. I’ll be focusing on the Blazer shoulder lockdown from guard and that butterfly sweep he always owns me with. Bayev bite lead-in to armdrag and the marcelo armdrag single. And from mounted or side control, I’ll be working on getting to turtle then sitting into guard. In the boxing class, I’ll be lucky if I can even keep my left hand up, but I’ll focus on circling right with hooks.
Tomorrow’s just Krav L1 and a bag class. Then I get to rest until monday night. Week 1 down.
