find the right sneakers for my aching feet (read all 5 entries…)
I should have put this back on my list months ago 11 months ago

since the shoes I got didn’t help as much as I was hoping. But it’s back on now, and tomorrow I’m going to get some New Balances that have been recommended. I have two styles to choose from, 926 and 845 (miraculously) they both seemed to fit well when I looked at them on Monday. I think I’m going to just get one pair now (at over $100 a pair, one pair at a time is enough – especially when I’m going on vacation).

I have also had another brand recommended, Brooks Ariels. They aren’t sold in my immediate area, so I may try to look for them in Seattle and/or Ketchikan, and see what I think. They’re running shoes, rather than walking shoes, so I’m not quite sure about the difference and how they’ll work for me. My brother got the men’s equivalent in them, so I’m anxious to hear what he thinks.

Did I mention I hate trying on/buying shoes?

I have

New Balances and I have to say, they are the least achifying trainers I’ve had these past few years!

{Turandot} is making plans

oh

you have a goal for this
I guess I should have one as well

new Balances? will have to take a look

The #s I listed, as well as the 811s

have “rollbars” in the heel to help with support, etc. While I was researching last night, I learned that the 926s are made to help with supination, and the other two pair help with pronation. My feet pronate too much, so I’ll be going with the 845s.

I can add

to the recommendations for New Balance. I’ve got a pair of their walking shoes and they have been great. They’re getting towards the end of their life and I’m planning to get another pair soon.

Running shoes are great

for walking. Brooks Ariel or Addiction last
forever and if you pronate heavily
you might try them.

We can take you to Road Runner Sports
or the Seattle Running Company (my choice)

fit people with the right running shoes.

Shoes Needed

I may have to take you up on that offer, since when I went in to pick up the shoes I had tried on Monday, I told them the wrong size. So…no new shoes to wear, just my old ones (NB) that are worn out and perhaps not a good style for my (aching) feet.

Good luck!

This could make all the difference in how much you’re able to do. If Fishboy can’t help get you into the right ones, nobody can!

Oh, I hope so, NN

I have hardly been able to do any walking at all the last several months because of my plantar facitis and other feet problems.

Ouch

My sis-in-law had that a couple of years ago, and it sounded excruciating. And after my recent foot surgery, I can relate – even if you try to tough it out, it starts throwing your knee, hip, whatever out of kilter. Good luck!

I love running anything;
which includes finding
you shoes.

I hope you can still say that

AFTER you take me shoe shopping. It’s not an adventure most people choose to repeat.

Brooks Ariels

are my athletic shoe of choice and have been for years, so I can tell you about them. They are very specifically designed for women who have wide feet and flat arches and who overpronate. They have a real stiff, super-supportive structure to keep your feet from rolling in and out. If you are a flat-footed over-pronater, these shoes will work wonders for you.

I also like to use New Balance shoes just because the Brooks Ariels have become really ugly over the years. The models you are considering aren’t the ones I use. I use a cross training motion-control model. I agree with what people have said about the quality of New Balance. And they are American made, which is nice.

Once you find a shoe that works for you, you can stick with it and get much better prices by shopping for deals and coupons on line!
