get a houseplant (or two) (read all 3 entries…)
Whoops! 4 years ago

I went to People’s Co-op for the houseplant this weekend and apparently lost my marbles for a spell. Must’ve got all swept up in the world of plants. I ended up with an 11 ft. Bird of Paradise plant somehow thinking it would fit nicely in my dining room. I’m such an IDIOT! Ended up hauling it back after about half an hour of looking at it dominate my house.

Anyhoo … it was a fun fantasy plant expedition. The BOP is an amazing houseplant and I would highly recommend getting one if you have the room for it. The scale was way off for my more modestly sized home.

i think the plant looks good

xcept there doesn’t seem to b enough daylight for it, based on the photo.

if the BOP were about 1.5 feet shorter and if u had a sunnier spot for it, it would b great.

one thing to consider with the tall mofos is that in winter they kinda stall their growth, but in spring, they’ll go nuts. u have to have some spare room for their growth.

now that u know how high your ceiling is, u can find something more appropriate.

don’t give up on tall plants yet, please.

plenty of light

It’s a bad picture - I actually get an abundance of light in my house. I will get a tall plant - probably something more in the 5-9 foot range.

You need

a bonsai tree.

I agree

with this chap. A bonsai is a thing for a house, tropical bonasi don’t buy an evergreen for a house.

Just hack up your house...

...a BOP is worth it. They’re magical. I miss my BOP that is now at my bro’s place. I hope it’s doing okay. Hrm.

I’m serious, why don’t you just punch a hole in your roof so it has space to grow? Do a little remodel for the sake of one of your goals and a beautiful BOP?

Don’t talk to Todd about this- he’s not so nuts for plants and will just look at you like I’ve lost my marbles.
