new (old) music

I bought a bunch of CDs over break: Emmylou Harris, Odetta, the Dixie Chicks, and Steeleye Span (w/ Maddy Pryor). Any of these might have songs I’d like to learn. Folky stuff, not all of it super-clichĂ©. It’s all on my iPod, which I listen to all day at work.

Now if I could just find the time to play and sing!

Comments:

joie de vivre here only intermittantly

Steeleye Span!

One of my favorite groups of my youth. I also love the album, “Maddy Prior and Tim Hart Sing the Songs of Old England”.

I also recommend Pentangle, a similar sort of group.

if you wouldn't mind...

Dawn Treader New Idea: Organise my goals using Maslow's hierarchy of needs

Steeleye, Fairport, Pentangle, Bellowhead...

All fine exponents of the truth that you push great traditional music a long way into rock’n’roll without doing anything except making it more compelling and exciting.

If you ever want to cover any of that stuff and need a soprano, give a holler, will you? ;-)

Steeleye Span!

i always get them confused with Steely Dan.

the name, clearly, not the music. it’s a real pain not being able to remember which is Good and which is Not.
