Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Again?!

Are there any problems that seem to pop up again and again for you?
Or decisions you are faced with time and time again?
Care to share what they are?

Glad to hear you’re getting a handle on it!

YES!

There have been numerous health issues with my pets lately. I just had to take one of my cats to the vet early this morning. It’s been one health problem every 6 weeks or so, it worries and distracts me. I worry about them even when they are well.

I know you can relate to all of this. Thanks so much Gemm. :)

I’m so sorry to hear about your pets. I hope they get better soon.

Thanks so much :)

I always

have this problem with my boyfriends. I’m dating and everything then something steady appears and we’re together we love each other and everything is great and then one day with no reason my “I love you” button is switched off and I don’t love them anymore. I try to do something about it, I try not to panic, but it’s gone and nothing can be done. It’s so painful to finish such a relationship and the question is always whether I should stay with him because he’s so good. And then I always think that there’s something wrong with me and maybe there is because it’s always so unexpected like if I was afraid of something.

Precisely

your last phrase is the same phrase as I use refering to my situation. The only difference between you and me is that going steady and then changing your mind means hurting people more…

I used to have the same problem too. Actually it was more like Scarlett’s, because we would never end up going steady. Basically I would like someone, but as soon as I got them, I would get bored and my feelings would fade. I have no idea why it happened.
Lately things have changed. I’m more able to see things through now. Maybe it’s just that you haven’t found the person who’s right for you yet?

Right person?

You mean my second half or something? I don’t believe in such things anyway.
I just want to be in an ordinary relationship and have my feelings working as they should. I don’t believe in life-long relationships so I would just like to end it after considerable time with mutual agreement so that nobody was hurt.
