Working on it now 10 months ago

I applied for the program back in Oct of 08, and got in. Now that I’ve left my job, I have a ton of time to really absorb what I’m learning in the program. I’m looking forward to completing the program and starting the volunteer aspect so that I can meet people and be a more active part of my community.

So far, we have learned a TON. I’ve got a to-do and to-read list a mile long, which is exciting. It’s finally all coming together.

time when unemployed

I’ve been reflecting on how we feel about time and tasks is affected by unemployment. Its very different for me to not have most of my day structured by work or caretaking.

I did a concept map of my projects last week. That helped me lay out some priorities and also see how things had interrelated aspects that I hadn't noticed. Also, some things are more dependent on others than you realize.
The bottom line though is that you have freedom when you have free time. Children have tons of free time unless the crazy adults in their life have over scheduled them. They seek entertainment. When adults have free time, they really don't because of the lists.

My realization though, no matter what we plan, we always will manage to get in our socialization and entertainment. Whether its watching TV or sitting at a bar, people do it.
