I have recently been feeling alot of anxiety about going into work. There are days when I feel things are great. But more often then not, I feel that I am not “supposed” to be working in this area. I am wondering how long should I ride this out before looking for a job in a different area??? and what area do I try??? Is the new area gonna make me feel the same??...just a different unit??? MAYBE…I just need some xanax. LOL. does anybody have some insight on this??? suggestions???

Finding Your Own North Star – might help get you started? I’m absolutely loving it – very easy to read, quite happy and hopeful.
Thank you!
I agree, I don’t want to give up nursing. I think I am just having some of those inner conflicts. I need to find some balance and harmony within myself and in my work. maybe a yoga class would help me relax and find some focus. And a unit change is probably a good idea. I work on a very busy, stressful unit. A part of me likes the chaos and again the stress and anxiety tear away at me piece by piece. hhhhmmmm…kinda like a door mat. lol.
anyway, thank you again for the insight!! It helps!!!

your entry is exactly what I have been going through too!
I have been questioning myself about my area of nursing too. Actually I have been questioning if nursing is even the right career for me at all, lol! (and I’ve only been a nurse for a year).
I think finding a relaxing outlet like you suggest, is a great way to find some work/life balance.
yes! yes!
I have those thoughts also, but what would i go back to school for?? or do I just go back to school and get out of direct patient care??? I HATE feeing so indecisive!!!
I am obviously in a turning point in my life….I just don’t know if I should take a left or a right. :)
Hang in there!!! I know the first year is the hardest. We just need to find our niche in the whole thing. good luck!!!

Job vs career
I remember reading once that if you like it when you’re doing your work, but hate the coworkers or environment, then you need a new job. If you don’t mind the people you work with, or the work environment, but hate what you’re doing, then you need a new career.
Fortunately with nursing, there are a lot of ways to use your nursing experience even if you’re not actually on a floor in patient care.
Thank you
I love that!!! That sounds pretty good!! I think I need to get my BSN. I think more doors would be open to me with a BSN. especially if I want to steer away from direct patient care. maybe I just need to do some research in what my options are. That may help some of the stress and anxiety of the big “unknown”.
I really appreciate everyones thoughts and advice. It is like one big brain storm. :)
Thanks again!!
