About 3 years ago we bought a 75-year old home in a very nice neighborhood. Now, we are talking about making some changes to increase the value of the house so we can sell in a few years and buy land out in the country. There are so many pieces to this project, it has been difficult to know where to start. Thinking is good.

I agree with you it is hard to know where to start on these older homes. I bought an old little square box after my divorce and trying to get it remodeled just to live in it normally! Only in these older homes you just can’t buy a new sink for the bathroom like I want to because the bathroom wall behind the old sink is a mess…then you look down on the floor and the linoleum is sliced and one part of the floor is an inch off from the other…these older homes some carpenters just held their thumb out and said…ah this is good….....nail it here! they didn’t even pour a foundation underneath the bathtub and I can feel cold air seeping through the large bathroom shower enclosure. These are huge issues and can turn a 150. bathroom cabinet into a 10,000 remodel.
I decided to go with priorities though and am fixing the leak in the ceiling. Good luck to you.
