Give you the nickel tour of Atlanta (read all 21 entries…)

This morning a friend and I went to Kudzu Antiques Market. It is a fantastic place! I love all the booths of clothing, old windows, bottles and signs. They also have an area with folk art.

Axx

what a great place to wander through.

bp

It really was, but good thing I took my allergy meds first !! :P

Axx

Did

you find a little treasure that you couldn’t resist?

bp

I did!

I got an old fan, and it works! I think it is from the 40’s. I am going to post a pic in a little but. My photo editor is slow today :(

Axx

and I will bet

that it has many more years in it yet….... things were built to last then.

oh my god

That shop looks fabulous!

bp

It is quite large and filled with very cool things. It was hard to take it all in with the few hours we spent in there :)

Solena D. had a bad dream

That would be

my ideal Saturday, wondering through a place like this. I love markets of all kinds, and I always come home from one with at least one thing that I really really need :)

bp

Ha haaa. I know exactly what you mean. :D

Josh ...and life just rolls on like a river.

Hey...

You did take some pics. Awesome! :)

bp

It was fun :)

Pajodama is so sleepy, she wants to be home instead of waiting for her class :|

I see you did have fun, good tour and excellent pictures. Good job BP!

bp

Thanks Paj, maybe next time you are here to visit we can take in a few places :)

Great photos

That place looks amazing but I absolutely see what you mean about the allergy meds:) After a while the dust, smells and clutter would get to me and I’d need to take a break! Still looks very cool though!

bp

Yeah it was very dusty! And despite taking the Allegra, I was sneezing a bit :)
Thanks PM!

Cool!

That store looks awesome. It looks like a great kind of place to find some ‘found’. There’s been a Big art vibe going through our house over the past few weeks.

bp

I will probably start going out there more often :D

loved the tour

Atlanta appears to be a charming place! Not what I expected (have heard that it is a city of vast suburbs, with little cultural interest.)

bp

You heard there is little cultural interest in Atlanta? That really surprises me. :)
Well, I am trying to keep my Atlanta tour limited to places I frequent. It was hard to move here from my small North Carolina town and I try to make the best of it.

I didn't know you came from N.C.

We very nearly had to move there when I was a kid.

bp

yeah, i am from Wilmington and I went to college in Greensboro and in Winston-Salem. So I got to live all over NC :)

Within a hair's breadth

We came very close to knowing each other, given our similarity in age. We were going to move to Wilmington when I was 12. The outfit my dad worked for picked up and moved from St. Paul to Wilmington, and some of the employees had the option to move along with them (foremen and more skilled laborers). He was going to move down there for a couple months and then we would have followed. It came right down to the wire, and then he and my mom decided we should stay. This would have been in ‘83, and as I remember it, the job situation was pretty similar to what it is now. Those were some shaky years, and I remember during the time of the possible move i was both excited about moving somewhere so different than Minnesota, and worried that i wouldn’t see my grandparents again. I honestly do not know to this day why my parents decided to stay at the last minute; I should ask them.

bp has gotten 30 cheers on this entry.
