I’m oblivious…

Did you read the “What is RSS” link on the right? It does a pretty fair job at explaining it. Did you have specific questions?
It pretty much is code (markup, really). In the same way that you use a web browser to read HTML, you would need an RSS reader (or online reader) to read it.
I had to make a presentation for work
on RSS – if you want, I can send you the document. I included pictures in it to help with visual aid. Just say the word! :)
what it really seems to be
Is a tool for increasing the information overload we’re already suffering. As an information junkie though, all I can say is… bring it on!
RSS how where why
Here, we go to understand how you can use rss power ,first you must have a source providing that rss information. rss is basicaly xml language that online reader or “news agregator” can read and present in a way or another.
let’s start by someone that have a blogspot account, blogspot use Atom feeds but this is not a problem at all..
http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=698
ps: this url show you how to use your atom feed into your blogspot blog.
you think you don’t even know about RSS now you reading about atom ?
Atom and RSS are the “same” technology using diferent way of puting/formating it.
all these diferencies End with something called http://www.feedburner.com wich is going to Turn your Atom feed into a perfect and validated RSS feed that anyone or any aggregator can “read”.
first of all create an account with feedburner, then past you atom feed or any rss feed into feedburner form, follow the several simples step to finish you feedburner modified generated feed, in the last part you run into a section called “BrowserFriendly” “SmartFeed™” and “FeedFlare” those are the principal section of the “optimise” menu into your feedburner acount, you should “actvate” the one you think interesting –
this is the source feed, from my website loudblog module:
http://www.buzzworkers.com/loudblog/podcast.php
wich i entered into my feedburner account.
and this is how it look like to a normal
browser like firefox:
http://www.buzzworkers.com/loudblog
the result goes managed by feedburner look like this:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/BuzzworkersLoudblog
This is how feedburner cook your feed into something you can give to anyone,
depending if the feed is a podcast or an rss news headline for exemple, the buttons and the way the content is pre-formated change.
in the “Publicize” section of your feed
you can find a lot of cool tools to make your feed available has a resume,
has you can see in http://www.buzzworkers.com – just under the image there is a resume of my news module powered by feedburner, when i post a news on my website, news appears automatically there, all this thanks to feedburner!
Really usefull to put in blogs or linkblog anyway, with feedburner all this story turn to be easy, also feedburner can prepare your feed to be Itunes-ready, there is a bunch of chicklets with the code to copy past into anywhere, like a simple html code.
well, with this service, using rss turn to be a kids game. they simply take care of your feed in a way no other rss manager does.
also the result on my blogspot account:
http://buzzworkers.blogspot.com
all this blog is full of scripts produced by feedburner, i only use this blog to make 43things and Blogspot “speak” together and to show off rss content produced on my website that will automatically update when i change something on my website.
dunno if i helped about rss, i’m a bit confused/tired and without time, but the important is : go to www.feedburner.com
copy your rss feed url there, then start to manage it with feedburner, then you can export buttons, scripts, and other cool stuff to any blog engine or website.
