I’m sorry for how you’ve suffered over your daughter’s TBI. I once was a VR counselor who specialized in TBI over 10 years ago. I’m sure things have changed a lot since then as far as treatment and rehab goes. Has she seen a neuropsychologist or neuropsychiatrist? They specialize in treatment and testing of people with special neurological conditions. They can trace an injury down to what lobe of the brain. They might even be able to help you find a family support group to help you understand and deal with your daughter’s behavior. I think the hardest thing for family’s to deal with afterwards are the personality changes and problems modulating anger and frustration of their loved one. The changes make the person unpredictable and frustrating to help even though you desperately want to. If she can get into a good rehab program with people who are trained to help her, her anger and frustration may improve. Social Security can be extremely frustrating to deal with. Just don’t give up. Keep applying. Keep searching for answers. You might be surprised how things will go at a hearing with a live administrative law judge. Definitely hire an atttorney who specializes in SSA. These attorneys don’t get paid if they don’t win for you. Then they get about 25% of the back pay. This is well worth it if it means she’ll gets some benefits.
