Get EU Citizenship
Belgium perhaps? 9 months ago

I am an American. I studied healthcare management and have a Master’s but I’m currently an ESL teacher in Korea. I would like to work in consulting (pharmaceutical, health care) for a few years.

I love living abroad. I love traveling. It takes 3 years of residency to become eligible for citizenship in Belgium. Now, I just need to find a position with a company that would be willing to sponsor me. Ah, the very difficult step.

Falling in love and marrying an EU citizen would be even nicer, but my love life and current place of residency considered, my former plan is FAR more likely.

Comments:

I’m a Belgian, I’m curious to learn why you’re attracted to live here?

I’m learning French so for the sake of making my life easier, I’m sticking with Anglophone and Francophone cities.
Belgium’s policies seem to welcome immigrants whereas some of the neighboring countries’ policies seem almost xenophobic. This is not to say that the US has friendly policies. Of the Western European countries I’m interested in calling home, Belgium is on one end of the friendliness spectrum and non-EU Switzerland (I want to work for NGOs) is on the other.
