::The Day I Met Neil::

So, here I was, moving again! I hated moving, but most of all, I hated the idea of starting over.
My first day of school, I wouldn’t talk to anyone. I am typically shy in new places, but this time I was shy and didn’t care. You know, the teenage bullshit you talk yourself into believing. ‘Woe is me’ type thing.

Anyway, our house wasn’t ready to be moved into so we were staying at a hotel for a week or two. (A pool in September in Michigan whenever I wanted?? Sweet!!) So, I had to walk with my little sister to the library after school.

I remember the moment I walked in, he was right there playing with those wooden toy train sets you find everywhere. He looked up at me and immediately, I fell for him…had to have been those blue eyes. After sitting there listening to music and writing for nearly an hour, he got the courage to talk to me…he was the first person I talked to in this town…he later became the first person I dated for more than a year, the first person to hear several of my bad, past secrets, and the first person I went to bed with.

Leave it up to me to fall in love with the freshman boy who plays with toy trains. =)

I love you Neil.

::Installing Sinks::

I know what you’re thinking. I must have flipped my lid. Fixing sinks is a best memory?? Get out of town.

But no. I am totally serious. We moved to this house and ugh…it was awful. My Dad always recruits me when he does these home renovations or repairs…probably because he knows I am the only one who won’t laugh at him and say ‘no’. Anyway, my Mom bought these massive ceramic sinks for her bathroom to replace these cheap plastic ones she had.

For starters though, these sinks obviously weighed a ton. The pipes weren’t long enough, and didn’t want to seal…ever. And we constantly had the wrong tools.

My Dad and I always made it a joke though. At one point, my Mom walked in, probably wondering why we were taking so long, and saw us sitting on the floor crying from laughter.

I know my Dad won’t live forever; so, I definitely cherish all of these memories with him…even if I am just installing plumbing.

::My Car Wreck::

I know what you’re thinking. ‘This girl is insane. Fixing sinks and wrecking cars are best memories?’

Yeah…well, I left Neil’s house earlier so he could spend time with Nick. I wrecked my car maybe half a mile away tops. So, I called him, crying of course and he rushed over to see me. Nick later told me that he knocked over anything in his way so he could get to me faster.

Since everyone in my family was out of town, he called his and they all rushed to my ‘rescue’. It really opened my eyes as to how important I was to them all and how thankful I am to have them in my life.

::Learning to Swim::

I remember it was 1995 (meaning that I was 5 at the time) and everyone had tried to teach me to swim that summer. It didn’t work very well though.

So, my eldest brother, Brandon, decided to try. Well, anyone who knows him knows that he has no patience what-so-ever. After trying a few times, he got angry and just threw me in the pool yelling, ‘SWIM!’

Ha! It worked.
