Wrapping Up The Continental

To finish off the lower 48, I just have to get Oregon, Idaho and Montana. I’m looking at doing this around the last weekend of June. I’ll be planning on flying into/out of Seattle, so I can finally meet the Robots as well as the Seattle based 43ers past and present. Hopefully by then Matty will be in Australia with LL, but if he isn’t I’d love to hook up with him for a run too. I’m hoping that Roxi and Cookie will be around so I can come see them in Vancouver, or have them come down to hang with Joshito and HippiePig and me.

I don’t have a firm schedule yet, so I’m putting this out here now so that if you think I absolutely have to see something in one of those three states (or want to hook up in Washington state), you can let me know now. I’ve got a cousin in Thompson Falls, MT that I plan on visiting, but otherwise have no set travel path for those states.

wren You'll not see nothing like the mighty wren!

If you visit Yellowstone Park

you can get Idaho and Montana at the same time!

Four Corners

I did something similar with Utah and New Mexico by visiting the Four Corners. I actually had to drive in New Mexico to get there, so while there I ate lunch in Utah to make it a worthwhile visit.

Four Corners

Four corners is great. I used to live in New Mexico and I wish I had gotten the chance to visit there. It’s the only place where four states meet in one place like that.

Push-Up

I actually did a push-up with a hand or foot in four different states at the same time. I think I’ve got a picture of it somewhere too. I’ll have to dig that up again.

That was a cool idea!

(This is off topic.)

Todd, when I came home from a trip Monday night I found a Cancun postcard waiting in my mailbox!!

Your smiling face did indeed arrive in Chicago much sooner, & obviously your “Air Mail” specification was disregarded, but at least it made it.

Thanks. :-)

That's Great

I just heard from WildRice (YRush) that she got hers too. Did I remember to write USA on it? I was beginning to think that’s why they hadn’t arrived.

My parents mailed some out a few days after I mailed mine, and theirs just arrived a couple days ago.

And on a different topic, we haven’t done much brainstorming about our anniversary which is just a couple days away. I’m thinking I’m going to either finish up my 43 Things I’ve Done Because of 43 Things goal, or maybe I’ll actually do the 43 Poems about 43 People goal.

Yikes! It's tomorrow!

I can’t do anything too time-consuming, because it looks as if after work I’ll be accompanying a church friend to the O[xxxxxx] plant to dumpster dive. (We – a team of us – keep everyone in the congregation supplied with free juice & protein drinks by doing this regularly!)

That said, I must think of something fun to mark the day. I think I’ll write & post a funny poem. As I’ve always said about laundromat writing, it doesn’t have to be good. Heh.

I’ll invite you to a team goal for this, even though we’re not going to observe the occasion in exactly the same way, OK?

when you go to WA

will you have time to go past the world’s first squirrel bridge in Longview, WA? Just a thought, because you love squirrels.

Longview

That’s right on the way for my trip down to Oregon, so I’ll definitely have to include that in my travel itinerary.

Did It

I went to the squirrel bridge today but I didn’t see any squirrels around. I went into the public library which was there and asked them. They said they never saw any squirrels use it either. They also were a little incredulous that I came all the way from Pennsylvania to see it.

we visited it

almost 15 years ago, when it was at its old location and there were many squirrels running on it. Could be that when they had to move it, the squirrels didn’t need it at the new location. Glad you got to see it anyway. Hope you’re having a great trip!

Relocation

I had read about it needing to be moved due to the one tree supporting it needing to be cut down. I didn’t see any evidence of squirrels in the park that it now resides at. They should’ve moved it somewhere where there was an existing squirrel colony.
