Benji is very happy to see Mari back!

Plan now to get in shape after the baby is born so it won't be quite as much of a shock...
As we still don't really know

what will happen regarding the birth (BTW I am currently at 39 and 1/2 weeks) as baba T is very fond of doing somersaults, we could be booked in for a c-section on monday, we may not…

So as it could be a situation where I may not be able to do very much for a while after the birth I started looking up how I could help things along, as when I had Sam that was a c-section and the recovery was awful and I didn’t want to find myself in thgat situation again…

Anyhow, I came across a review for a site called seraphina who make post-partum support “belts” I guess you could call them. They apparently help with the recovery of the seperated muscle of the abdomen, the only catch is you have to wear them 24/7! But it is a positive step towards regaining your pre-pregnancy shape.

So after reading a little more (apparently they swear by something similar in Italy) I asked my husband to order me a couple, so in the next few days I will take delivery of one nightime and one daytime post-partum support garment!

I will have to wear them for 10 weeks! But seriously anything that aids recovery and makes you feel a little more human after childbirth can’t hurt can it?

Comments:

Good luck.

Did you know that Cookie is a traditional Welsh name? Great name for a baby, eh? hint hint

Really...Ummmm...

In truth we still haven’t decided on a name at all, not even close truh be told, She might end up as Cookie Todd Spiffydoodle marmot hasslehoff 4KQ yet.

Congratulations?

Well, it’s Tuesday here now, so it’s Tuesday there too. So congratulations on your successful c-section. Ignore Cookie up above. Todd is a much better name, and is traditional too.

'Fraid not Todd...

am still waiting, she’s head down, engaged and ready for launch but somewhat reluctant to face her public as yet.

But all the signs are very positive that it could go any minute, am in very early labour…

lots of backache, uncomfortable, infrequent contractions etc… but that’s been since monday and now it’s Thursday! HELP!

Suggestion

Well here in the States, there is one thing that doctors and nurses suggest to help move things along. It’s that thing that caused the pregnancy in the first place. Of course you’d need Speedy’s help with that.

I do wish

I had used one of those after my c-section. I asked my doctor about it (and I did really like and respect my doctor), but she pooh-poohed it and said, “Some of my Hispanic patients insist on using them, but I think exercise does the same thing.” Trouble is, who has time to do a lot of exercise in the critical first few weeks after the baby is born? You’ve had your abdominal muscles cut, and you’re carrying around a 6-9 pound baby at all times. Plus I’ve seen that lots of cultures swear by that tight abdominal wrapping as the womb is shrinking back into the abdomen. I say go for it, and post info about the results here.

Hear Hear!

Thank you niC :)

It’s definately encouraging to hear some more about these things, especially as all I know is what I found out via OK magazine and a website…

Am actually still waiting for delivery, terribly slow they are! Mind you perhaps I am just used to Amazon’s swifty delivery service…

Sending you

best wishes for a joyous birthing experience!

Bedhead2 June bloom hula hooping!

I worked with a woman who was from Sierra Leone. After her child was born (second) she regained her original shape very quickly. She said it was because she wrapped material around her waist, that held everything in place. She did this for many weeks. She also avoided any food or drink that was cold during that time. It seemed to work really well for her.

I am gaining more and more faith

in these “undergarments” and actually very excited to see them in the flesh so to speak… I just wish they would hurry up and arrive!

Good tip about the cold foods too, will try that :) (If I can resist ice cream for 10 weeks that is!!!)

Cold

If you have cold stuff, follow it up immediately by some hot water or tea.

Benji has gotten 5 cheers on this entry.
