learn to play the recorder (read all 2 entries…)
Humble beginnings

My 80 year old father once said to me “If I’d practised my flute 20 minutes a day for my whole life I’d be very competent now” and this rings true.

I’m not musically gifted but I’ve really enjoyed starting to play.

I chose the recorder because its small, light weight and cheap – therefore good for my impoverished, itinerent lifestyle. Also its easy to learn, but adaptable. Tried the penny / tin whistle but although the sound is nice, its impossible to play quietly as you have to blow harder to get higher notes.
