scooterbird Blergh, I think I'm sick...
So I got “ranged” last night by someone in theatre who knew more or less what she was doing. My voice is no damn good right now; I have something grippish, I think, and it’s screwing with my vocal cords (I went to thank someone for opening a door for me today, but nothing came out!)...but I still managed my way through “Magic to Do” from Pippin for my audition before the ranging. I’m a tenor, no surprise, with about an octave and a half range – and I’m sure the bottom was cut short by whatever nasty stuff was strangling me. I was also told that my falsetto was “useful”, as I could project it almost as much as my regular range….I easily could have kept going higher, and I think if my voice wasn’t phlegmy, I could have hit maybe two notes lower.
Not sure exactly what this means, particularly if I’m doing rock ‘n’ roll, but perhaps I’ll find out sometime soon.
