submit my writing for publication
Lessons learned 4 years ago

First, you must also be fully accepting of constructive criticism… the editors and copy editors are there to help you improve some areas of your writing that you may not be aware of. Listen to them and learn. Also be willing to accept rejection. Some of the best articles I have read were rejected from other publications because of topic or theme. Just because you get a rejection letter doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. Second, write about what you are passionate about. Thrid, set goals for yourself beyond the deadlines given to from the editors. This will help you make small steps toward completing the article. Fourth, review review review. Read your work outloud if you have to. Then have someone else review your work. It’s always good to have one or two extra pairs of eyeballs reading your work.
