I miss gardening. This time of year the stores are full of specials on gardening gear and plants, and I keep wishing I had space to grow things. I have a pot-plant or two, but it’s not the same. I’m looking forward to having a whole garden of my own.

calypte ready for something new :)
what would be
the first plant(s) on your list?
I’m ashamed reading this that I’ve had a garden for 5 years and done very little with it. This year that changes – I’m off at the weekend to buy lavender and sea thrift and thyme and maybe gerberas :)
Viburnum.
There’s a scented kind which is absolutely heavenly, and I want one. After that, everything! Roses, nasturtiums, pansies, poppies, alyssum, peonies, carnations, huge pots of lilies, walls covered in sweet pea and honeysuckle. I’d love to have enough space for a tree, an apple- or cherry-blossom that I could surround with crocuses and hyacinths and daffodils and be in ecstasy over every spring. And when I’m feeling ambitious, I want a vegetable & herb garden too – salad leaves, tomatoes, squash, onions, carrots, chives, rosemary, bay, lavender, mint… on and on and on.
Hope you get to make the most of your garden this year :o)

lovely!
I have such gorgeous pictures in my head now :)
Me too on my little garden this year – my plans are very definitely bigger than the space already! I’m lucky enough to have inherited a great huge eucalyptus tree and the most amazing sprawling rose bush. I planted a little baby cherry tree already, but think I may have moved before it’s big enough to flower o.O Lilies and poppies and honeysuckle and sweetpea have just been added to my list now, thank you :)
Oh, lucky you!
I love eucalyptus – the smell of it on a hot day is just magnificent. Pine trees, too – there’s one particular kind I want which the name of which of the name of which dammit! I have no idea, but I’d know it when I smelled it. Mmm, I’m thinking of all the other trees I love now – chestnut, willow, silver birch, copper beech… I’m going to need a big garden. :-p

you'd love
my dad’s place – he’s got all of those, and, urm… a few hundred more. Ahem! So if you’re looking to move next year…! :)
Zounds!
Sounds amazing! When your garden is all done, will you invite me for lemonade or something?
I almost said “iced tea,” but then I remembered my adventures in Ireland during a rare heat wave when I was entertained to no end by their attempts to figure out what “iced tea” really meant! I would have stopped asking for it, but it was just so fascinating to see the different variations on a theme…!
By the way,
I’m sure when you said “I have a pot-plant or two,” you meant plants in pots, and not the other...? ;-)
Hey, I live in Santa Cruz. I can’t just assume.
