I can do this for my birthday at the end of the month. I’m taking a couple days off and should have the time if only the weather will hold. Many years there is rain on my birthday and that wouldn’t be as much fun as doing this in sunny weather. We’ll see what happens.

I did the Argosy harbor cruise once, but we didn’t see the duck.

I hope that the weather is nice for your birthday so that you can do the duck ride.

The rainy weather and the duck remind me of something that I overheard reacently. When I was in DC with my daughter a few weeks ago it was threatening rain. We walked around the Tidal Basin. The water was very rough. There were a few ducks(the waterfowl type) swimming out there amid the waves. We would sometimes see some of the ducks geing overcome by a big wave every now and then. I overheard a man standing near us explaing to his family, “Look at those ducks. See how the water runs off of their backs, just like water off of a…duck’s…back. I can’t believe I just said that.”

I know that I’m mixing my duck metaphors here. I’m sure that you’re following along. I don’t know if everyone else will be so fortunate.

Haha, you made me laugh. That’s a great story. But no fair trying to trick me with a duck story about the Tidal Basin and an accompanying photo of a duck in Lake Union! At first I thought it might be the duck in your story, but then “wait a minute, that’s my office building in the background. That’s not DC!”

The Argosy tours are great. The most popular Argosy tours though are of the Harbor (Elliott Bay). I believe the Ducks just paddle in Lake Union. That would explain why you didn’t see any on your tour.

Hindsight...

For good measure I should have talked about my duck experience in “Washington” rather than in “DC”.

Rethinking it now, that would have helped to shine a bit more obfuscation onto the whole story and helped with the overall ambiguity.

I did complete it on my birthday. I’ve been waiting to close the goal until I can find time to upload a picture or two. Hopefully I can get to that this weekend.
