get a new dog...
Bahku

I had to put my dog to sleep this past summer, which was such a hard thing to do. I still miss the little guy so much. I know that eventually I’ll get a new dog, but it’ll be awhile I think.

I wish I knew

We lost our dog recently, too, and I just can’t imagine having a new one, but can’t imagine living without one. :(

Indeed

Apparently people who were happily married and loose their beloved to death are very likely to remarry very soon because they know what love is, what joy it can bring and they see it as a blessing. Maybe it is like that with dogs too. No dog is the same, but the love you can give will make one new dog very happy indeed. And you will learn to love again as well.Good luck. I too have had to put my dog to sleep. And it was beyond heartbreaking.

Take time

About five years ago, we had to put our beloved Collie, Shadow, to sleep. She was 14 years old. I never thought I’d have another dog, but about two years ago, I went to a graduation party, and somebody had these wonderful puppies there-the party was in the country. I just knew that he - see picture—was the right puppy for us. I certainly wasn’t planning on getting a dog, but he has been wonderful. I still miss Shadow. She was Shadow, and he’s Achilles. They are like people, you can’t replace one with another, but you certainly can love more than one.

Your dog was adorable—such a sweet guy.
I’m sorry for your loss.
